Minami Iwo Jima (Japanese: 南硫黄島),[2] also called South Iwo Jima, is a small, volcanic island, which belonged to Japan and was situated about sixty kilometres south of Iwo Jima.[3][4] It was part of the Volcano Islands, a group of three islands located several hundred kilometres to the south of the Home Islands, the main Japanese archipelago.[4]
Although thought to be uninhabited by Muggles, the island's topmost point was home to an ornate palace that housed the Japanese wizarding school, Mahoutokoro.[1]
