I don't want to see unnecessary arguments in other people's threads.

I will try to be as transparent as possible.

If any of you have questions about moderation issues, i will do my best to answer them in this thread ONLY.

I won't be doing this every day. But I will do my very best to promptly answer every single question.

I had a convo about a merge tool with an ex-staff long time back.

I think they replied that they will add it to the possible updates in future since back then it wasn't a tool that needed attention. Discussion was quite new back then.

Although I will follow up on that.

But again, without a merge tool - If there was a Cursed Child Movie FAQ post, and a new user posted the same question, what would happen? How would this be moderated?

Oh I thought it was a part of the suggestion. Misinterpretation. Lol. Well what is our purpose here? FAQ will be something that is canon and is not properly covered in wiki pages(because it's a small issue) and gets asked almost every time and doesn't need any discussion. Best example as has been established, "will CC be adapted as a book and a movie or not?" In the FAQ post we will ask a question and give a reply to it and lock it. After this whenever a user ask a this post, the moderation team will lock the post after linking the FAQ post and the question number that their FAQ is on. With time uses will eventually stop asking these questions. As we have noticed in the past, this was the method applied to reduce certain post types, I think we can adapt a good part from it.

The trouble with this approach, as it appears to me.- When it is a new user (which it almost always is), locking their post is not a very friendly way to be introduced to a new community. As they are new users, they also are unaware of any past posts on this topic being locked, so such an approach does not actual dissuade additional posting on this topic.- Locking the post does nothing to reduce the redundancy of the topic - the post is still there for everyone.- Locking prevents any follow up questions or clarifications, often leading to additional posts being made, thus resulting in actually more redundant posts- FANDOM has expressly stated that Discussions should not be moderated to reduce redundant posts, and has shown no interest over the years in providing tools to facilitate such goals.
The FAQ was used as an excuse to delete posts on topics that previous Moderators did not feel were worth addressing as they had already been discussed in the past. This did result in reducing redundancy as posts were deleted entirely, but at the drastic expense of user participation.
What about an FAQ category in conjunction with FAQ thread? That way a new post could be linked to the previous discussion, but left open for any follow-up, and long-time users who don't want to review this topic yet again could filter out any such Discussions?

Well I quite agree with this approach as well.

Having a category dedicated would actually be a good idea.

Also as much as my words might have sounded like the previous mods, I had no intention of bringing back the same ideas and ideologies again.

The FAQ category sounds really good.

But the thing is, how do we decide what type of posts be shifted to FAQ and what not.

I'm not saying you were supporting the same goals as the past Mods - just making clear some reasons for my hesitation to use the FAQ posts as a moderation tactic.
I think the Mods could sort out which are the topics that keep reoccurring and make sure there is a well maintained FAQ post for it when adding it to the FAQ category. Again, the point of the FAQ post is to offer a well formulated response that brings a user up to speed on what is known, but also allows for any follow-up as needed. 
The FAQ category could also serve to handle "flood" situations (like the posting of a new trailer for instance) so the posts could be shuffled out of General and could be muted by those that have already seen the topic again and again.

@mods and @admins

Well as you all can see I have been promoted to Dmod on HPW wiki. Here are some proposals from me. They will be basically based on organisation so hopefully we won't need vote for it but if we need it, please point out.

As for the proposal let me know if you agree or disagree with them.

1) HPW Dmod chat. A chat restricted only for mods to discuss the Dboard so as to bring in transparency. Other users cannot post on that chat until mentioned otherwise. Since the admins will be following it, any deleted debate(which will be rare since I am proposing this to bring transparency but just in case if) will be over seen by the admins.

2) Make OT weekly instead of monthly.

3) A post dedicated to record Dboard votings ( I'm not sure if a wiki page exists for the same or not. If it does ok, if it doesn't then we can create a post that will record all votings in the form of comments.) And the post will be locked since it's a official post.

4) Do we open "mod" category to users to ask questions or do we let this post series continue or both?

1) Do you mean a thread for handling official business? Basically a record of internal discussions by Mods / Admins on changes? (not sure what "chat" means). In general, I agree all proposals and discussions should be "above board" and in Discussions (instead of another app), and available for review.
2) That's for you Mods to decide IMO
3) Do you mean the Community Votes? If so, any policy votes are listed at the end of the Guidelines, but I don't see any harm in a post/thread that logs the links to all the votes held for easy reference.
4)I think the Mod category should be changed to "Mods & Staff" and the current FANDOM posts should be moved into it and then the FANDOM category removed. Brandon Rhea has said directly that FANDOM will not be using the category anymore for regular posts, and it is constantly misused by users. I am not against having this "Mods & Staff" category as a place for users to ask questions, along with whatever official announcements are needed, but again would defer to how the Mods prefer to handle such user support.
