Even if he didn’t end up with Hermione, I think that Ron eventually would have realized that Lavender is WAY too clingy. I doubt that they would pursue a long-term relationship.
Hermione is a bright character and deserves better than Ron, but that would leave Ron and he didn't love her, he was under a love spell, so that might not work, I totally ship Harry and Hermione tho.

Lavender was too clingy, Ron would’ve been annoyed, plus he knew Hermione longer and showed signs of relationships, like not liking each other at first, fighting and then at the end just having it work out. Lavender never would’ve worked out for him, he was better off with Hermione
That would change the entire plot, who would Ginny marry?
