Back when Pottermore was still an online game, I sort of cheated the system and got Gryffindor. For a long time I thought that I belonged to Gryffindor (maybe because Gryffindor was the hero house in Harry Potter), but over the years I realized that I really didn't fit into what the house stood for- Gryffindors are seen as generally brave (I'm not the most brave), a bit headstrong (I try to stay level-headed) and the all-around hero types.
Comparing that to Hufflepuff, you never really know what the Hufflepuff house is all about (hence the 'potato!' meme) until you dig deeper. I retook the Pottermore quiz a few years back and got Hufflepuff, which actually upset me a bit until I learned what Hufflepuffs are all about. Huffepuffs have patience, are hard working, and are very loyal, which are categories I fit into. I see no reason to lie to others or create drama, and I'm a rather patient person. We seem to be the 'nice guys', and I'm fine with that. Being friendly is key in life.
After learning what Hufflepuffs were all about, I finally began to accept where I was placed. I've taken the quiz a multitude of times after the first, and got Hufflepuff all but once. I only truly embraced being a Hufflepuff after learning about Newt Scamander. I have a large passion for animals, and even though I'm not planning on getting a career that has to do with creatures, I'm always fascinated. I didn't even know that Newt was a Hufflepuff, but then the first Fantastic Beasts movie came out and I was absolutely floored by it.
As a person, I parallel Newt in many ways. He's a kind soul that tries to always be honest, but he's also a bit of an introvert when it comes to people. Once you get to know him, however, you learn that Newt is actually a great person, if a little atypical (maybe the Swooping Evil joke on Kowalski wasn't the nicest). Now that I know how similar other Hufflepuffs are to myself, I'm proud to call myself one.
