I think that they should have died. If they didnt die, Harry would not be the 'Boy who lived' and there will not have that much excitement in the story. Share a thought!

Option 1 : Like the prophecy theres chance not Potters whom Voldemort after to, it can be the Longbottoms. Imagine Neville & Harry lives being swap ( Neville Longbottom & The Philosopher Stone )
Option 2 : somehow Potters manage to dodge the attack. Harry living happily with his beloved family. With really loving Sirius as godfather. He would be a spoiled kid. Malfoy get along type. Attend Hogwarts & sorted to Slytherin. Bullies Neville, Ron & Hermoine. Voldemort just a common world problem to Harry as he doesn't get really pointy issue to him. I mean Harry longing for family love made him a decent child & encouraged to help others.
Well if his parents didn’t die he would have. His parents would have no kid and live sadly. So yeah they should have died now Harry May have no parents but would YOU rather die or have your first kid die? See I would rather die. They died at will not at force.

Yes, harry parents should have died. This was mentioned in harry 6th part. Dumbledore says that Voldemort had killed harry parents which had grown a feeling of revenge in harry. If his parents would have been alvie then he would live with them happily. Voldemort also wouldn't have died or come back just to kill Harry...
