How did Gellert came to have heterochromia? (Is that how it's written?)

No, definitely not born with it. He used to have blue eyes, then in fantastic beasts he pops up with white and brown

Its a genetic thing. He was probably born with it.

I know right!? I see fb for the first time and I'm like, "What happened to my Gellert!?"
The real answer is that its just a continuity error. They hadn’t developed his look yet for Deathly Hallows.
But in the books he was also described with blue eyes... sigh
Maybe he just thought it was cool? And charmed his eyes to look different.
