I was wondering how wizards and witches learn how to use unforgivable curses.Do they have to learn how to do them themselves or in a certain year Hogwarts do they learn?

<p>I seriously doubt they learn them at all at Hogwarts. The class is called Defence Against the Dark Arts. And as those Unforgivable Curses are very dark arts, there's no reason they would learn them, just defending against them. So if one was to learn them, it would not be in a Hogwarts class.</p>

Learning Defense Against the Dark Arts means being aware what are some dark magic known in the wizarding kind, in this context, the Unforgivable Curses. It is reasonable for Hogwarts to put this in their curriculum. The students need to know what they are battling against in order to defend themselves.

<p>Maybe I'm splitting hairs here.. but they're only unforgivable when used against another human. Perhaps there are enough XXXXX beasts and dangerous beings out there to justify teaching something like these spells to those deemed mature enough to use them responsibly... (6th year plus or under unusual circumstances)</p>

I’m guessing that they are just a thing that all witches and wizards know because I feel like it is important for them to know things like that
