Here's the rule that we're looking at: "Do not DM any Harry Potter Wiki staff (@Wiki Staff) until they invite you to or you have their explicit permission. Especially for wiki-related matters."
And on the Discord Policy: "Business related to the Harry Potter Wiki must be handled on the Harry Potter Wiki."
I believe this was intended to prevent individual staff being bothered about minor issues, or situations that should've been a community discussion/kept public for transparency, since after all the whole point of Fandom is community collaboration and it's easier to keep track of what's happening if everything is on the same site.
That being said, I personally don't mind DMs, so you and other users have my explicit permission to DM me- it just shouldn't involve changes made to the wiki. If it's only a quick report, wiki business would still be handled on the wiki
