If the OP hasn’t read it yet, then your username is a bit of a spoiler. I’ve read both series. and if you can get through LotR, then it is, by far, the better series. LotR basically defined the fantasy genre. Nobody will remember Hinger Games twenty years from now.

I think it depends. I’ve heard people complain that LOTR spend a lot of time on detail(which I can confirm to some extent, it’s pretty descriptive), and one of the only real grievances I have with Hunger Games is that Collins blew the love triangle up more then it really needed to be. Honestly depending on your age I’d go with Hunger Games if you’re okay with murder and blood, and if you want something a bit more challenging then I’d go with LOTR
