We are all aware about that Ginny opened the chamber of secrets and got trapped in it and Harry rescued her....Further when molly was questioning Ginny. .she says : "Ginny haven't I told you to stay away from the things that can think for itself and you never know where it keeps it's mind..."...So my question is that how can we trust the sorting hat for one of the biggest decision of our lives as it can think itself and we don't know where it keeps it's mind either...?

Please help me l'm a lot confused...😓😓

Well for one thing the sorting hat wouldn't lure into a secret chamber with a huge snake in it would it?

And it was made by the founders themselves and it was just to sort students into different houses

And everyone knows about the sorting hat unlike Riddle's dairy so....

I think we know that where it keep it's mind because powers of the hat were given by the great founders. So I think we can trust the sorting hat.

I agree with you but that's quite a question you see if we trust the hat anyone in the wizard in world is bound to trust the diary as anyone could have thought of it as a normal magical object...you know..it's all about magic
