Okay, I've recently rewatched and reread the goblet of fire and one thing left me wondering wether or not Voldy's plan was actually any good. Now hear me out: They did a great job getting Harry into the tournament but what would've happened if Harry didn't kept on competing after the first round. He had to get a Dragons' egg, he could've failed and therefore wouldn't have been able to move on to the next round. Or maybe he couldn't figure out what the solution to the egg riddle was. I know they had Crouch jr. but Harry figured it out in the last second, even being late for the task. And he said from the beginning that he didn't want to participate. What if he had just let it be and not given a duck about what the next task was about. He couldn't have competed in the second task and therefore would have probably dropped out of the competition. Any thoughts?
The thing is he wouldn't be able to fail because even if he couldn't figure it out crouch (moody) kept telling him what to do in a discreet way so he wouldn't fail
I dunno... but the teachers kept saying that it was vital that he took part because when the cup chooses a wizard's name, then this binding magical contract is formed? I think he HAD to compete. If he refused, then something really bad would have happened, like he could have died or something.
The same thing happens when you dont fulfill an unbreakable vow so yeah.
But of course, he could have fell to his death on his broomstick or been roasted by the dragon on the first task. He could have drowned in the lake in the 2nd. And as you said, he might not have figured out what the 2nd task was if Cedric and Neville hadn't helped him and he would have failed.
But idk, barty crouch would have done something about it, cuz he cant let Harry fail. Maybe if harry didnt pick up any of his hints, then Crouch might have outright given him instructions on what to do? Or maybe imperiused the judges to make them give Harry a better score idk.
But yeah, Voldemort's plan is utter garbage. Seriously, why make Harry win the bloody triwizard tournament?
Harry would have died in the tournament without Moody's help, so why not just let him die? I mean, I guess voldemprt needed "the blood of the enemy" to resurrect himself but... why does it need to be Harry's blood? I mean, he tore so many families apart and killed ruthlessly, he's bound to have more than one enemy... even if it had to be Harry's blood, crouch could have easily knocked Harry out an collected some of his bloody at ANY point in the school year. So yeah, Voldy's plan was pretty flawed.
And as the supercarlinbrothers said, NEVER hire Voldemort to plan your wedding.
