Does anyone know why Fawkes came to Harry in the chamber of secrets when he was in trouble. Is it because he was in Gryffindor? I think that Fawkes should have came and saved Snape when he was dying because Snape did not deserve to die that way. Does Fawkes only come to true Gryffindor's or has he saved other people to?

It was revealed that if someone was loyal to Dumbledore (in this case Harry Potter), Fawkes would help/aid the person if they were in need. Harry had remained loyal to Dumbledore in his encounter with Tom Riddle, so Fawkes came to Harry's rescue, blinding the Basalisk and healing Harry's arm that has been bitten by the Basalisk.

"“First of all, Harry, I want to thank you,” said Dumbledore, eyes twinkling again. “You must have shown me real loyalty down in the Chamber"

Arguably Snape was also remarkably loyal to Dumbledore, but not openly. By the time Snape was attacked Fawkes had already left Hogwarts for good, so even with great open loyalty to Dumbledore, it seems unlikely Fawkes would suddenly reappear.
