She could be distant. They never said Helena was Rowena's only child

There's no known daughter of Rowena other than Helena, and not all those are smart must belong to Ravenclaw. She valued bravery more than intelligence and was sorted into Gryffindor

Also she was very closed minded, too closed minded for a Ravenclaw. She refuses to believe anything that's not written down by other people, she is a good learner but wisdom and intelligence are more complicated than that.
