I don't know how old people here are, but I was alive in 2007 when Rowling announce Dumbledore was gay and coming so openly about having a gay character in story for all ages was unheard of. Yeah, there were some Lgbt characters in kids media before but was very subtle with creators being scared to admitting it in interviews or smth . It's only now that people are allowed to be explicit about it .That's why I'm so surprised when I see people demanding that that the epilogue had Percy married to Oliver with kids or some other random pairing when I know that the publishers would have never let Rowling get awey with it ,especially in Britain where there was an actual ban on having gay characters in kids literature.(And people talk about how Albus love wasn't obvious enough but want to have two random characters of the same sex end up together after not interacting for entire series and having only straight romances? I don't get that.)
Would I like there were more hints about Albus' feelings towards Grindelwald? Sure, but for a time HP did ok, in my opinion. Especially during Dummbie's talk with Harry at the end .
