I decided to write a song for the sorting hat:
I know I may seem ugly,
But look deeper inside
For I have knowledge far and wide that I just can’t hide.
So many years ago; when I was first born,
The founders of this school made a hat,
To decide your future, not be worn.
So come along, put me on, and well see just where you land
For great wizards and witches once sat where you now stand.
You might be brave and mighty like the legend, Gryffindor
His secrets and his fear were guarded by a sword.
You might be smart and witty like the queen, dear Ravenclaw
Her sparkling tiara was a gem to all who saw.
Great Slytherin favored determination and ambition,
And if you had both then you could be the new addition.
Hufflepuff was kind and she was just,
And now the people of her house are known for their great trust.
But many, many years later when the differences were clear,
The king of snakes disappeared for far more than just a year.
Legend holds the answers but centuries wiped them away,
He built a Secret Chamber, the myths, they all say.
And now the castle on the hill stands proud and tall,
But if we don’t stay together, that could be our fall.
Some people have changed forever, with one simple motion; they sat.
Now don’t fret, you won’t regret, behold; The Sorting Hat!
