Fifth Year- Part 1, Chapter 2
The next day…
Slytherin Common Room
Draco is astonished by what happened in the broom closet. His heart is also shattered that someone would do something like that to Jadis.
Pansy (walks into the room): Hey, Draco.
Draco’s sister, Vanessa, also walks into the room.
Draco (stands up): Hey.
Pansy pushes him back onto the couch and cuddles with him a bit.
Draco (uncomfortable): Um. Pansy….
Vanessa (laughs): Well, you asked for it.
Vanessa leaves the room, her blonde hair swinging from her ponytail.
Draco (thinking): Since when does she put her hair in a ponytail?
Vanessa (giggling from out of the room): Very funny. Oh, stop it!!
Unknown (laughing): You asked for it.
Draco feels happy that his sister found someone, and turns back to find Pansy inches from his face.
Draco (scared): Pansy… please. No.
Pansy (inches closer): Why not?
Draco (looks back at Vanessa): Because I like someone else.
Pansy backs away. Her face is a mixture of mock disbelief and anger.
Pansy (angrily): Who? Who is it? That Mudblood?
Draco (knowing it would be best if he just said no): Don’t call her that.
Pansy (practically shrieking): It is?!
Draco looks around. Everyone is staring at him, and he feels humiliated.
Draco: No. It’s not.
Pansy (gets closer): Then who is it?
Draco: Stop. Please.
Pansy ignores him and kisses him furiously. Draco ignores the temptation of pushing her off the couch, and just sits there, letting her wrap her arms around him. Finally, after what seemed like one whole hour (but was actually just one minute) Pansy breaks away, leaving Draco slightly lightheaded.
Draco watches her walk away and then stands up, wanting to leave.
Gryffindor Common Room
Jadis is sitting in her usual spot, by the fire, when Harry comes into the room.
She smiles and nods as he walks past her.
When he leaves, and she is again the only one in the room. She stands up to leave and finds Fred leaving the room. Suspicious since he doesn’t normally go out of the common room without his brother, Jadis follows him.
Corridor near Slytherin entryway
Jadis hears him talking to someone, and to her shock, when she turns the corner, she finds him talking with Vanessa Malfoy.
What happens next doesn’t shock her at all though. Pansy Parkinson turns the corner, and finding Vanessa talking to Fred, she sneers.
Pansy: What’s going on here?
Vanessa (glaring): Why don’t you go away so that we can chat in private?
Pansy (sneering): Looks like Vanessa’s got herself a boyfriend.
Fred (blushing): No. Not at all.
Vanessa (looks hurt): Oh. Yeah. Totally.
Vanessa runs off, leaving Fred standing there, looking uncomfortable.
Pansy smirks and leaves the corridor.
Draco comes out of the Slytherin entryway, and Jadis’s heart flutters.
She ducks the corner the moment she sees Draco looking her way.
Draco (spotting Jadis just as she ducks behind the corner): Er- what the-
Fred leaves the corridor in search of Vanessa, and Draco walks over to where Jadis is standing.
Jadis’ heart pounds and she’s terrified that he’ll think she was under the Imperius Curse after all, or merely faking it.
Draco turns the corner, and Jadis almost faints.
Draco: Nice hiding place.
Jadis (laughs nervously): Yeah.
Draco (not sure of what to say): Er- well, what happened yesterday...
Jadis: Look. I was faking it. I wasn’t under the Imperius Curse, never will, never have been.
Draco (shocked): Wait. What?
Jadis (blushing): Oh. That’s not what you were going to say?
Draco shakes his head, and Jadis feels humiliated.
Draco: How’d you get the color of your eyes white?
Jadis: Charm.
Draco (sighs): Oh.
Jadis doesn’t know what else to say, and neither does Draco. An awkward silence fills the corridor.
Jadis: I’m sorry I did it.
Draco looks confused.
Draco: Why?
Now it’s Jadis’s turn to look confused.
Jadis: What do you mean? I literally kissed you without any good reason!
Draco (smiles): Yeah. I know.
At first, Jadis looks confused. Then when Draco starts leaning towards her, her eyes widen in shock.
Draco leans against the wall and pulls Jadis towards him.
Jadis (scared): Draco. Please. No. I can’t.
Draco (confused): Why not?
Jadis: It's too soon. And we're in the middle of the hall, and Gryffindors and Slytherins alike will stare at us!
Draco (feeling a sudden urge of bravery): Then let them watch.
Draco pulls Jadis even closer to him and kisses her even more furiously than Pansy had. He just wanted that memory to leave him. And knowing that Jadis was the second smartest witch in Gryffindor, he knew just how to do it.
