Chapter 4
Part 1/2
Recap from Chapter 3:
When he went to sleep, I saw something fall out of his bag. I picked up the piece of paper...
It was a photography. Lily was standing in the sunlight, grinning happily. Around her was an arm of a taller girl who was otherwise precisely cut out of the picture, but I noticed a part of her blonde ponytail. Was this Petunia, Lily’s sister? I put the photography in my bag. I’d better give it back without talking about it, because Sev didn’t seem ready to talk about his crush on her.
The next day, I got up earlier than I used to. I was very excited to get to the classes. When I got to breakfast, I met equally excited Severus.
“We’re having Herbology first,” he announced. When he was leaning on the table to hand me a plate with toasts, I slipped the photo in his bag and opened mine.
“With whom?” I looked at the timetable and then answered myself out loud: “Ravenclaw.”
That wasn’t so bad, so we ate quickly and hurried to our first magical lesson. As professor Sprout picked pairs, I moved closer to Severus and she, thankfully, noticed it and paired us together. I couldn’t imagine being paired with some snotty Ravenclaw when my friend is right next to me. My friend. Sounds strange. Okay, I should stop getting overly excited that I have friends...
I rather focused on Professor Sprout’s lecture on nettles.
“Do you like Herbology so far, Sev?” I asked when we received our potted nettles.
“It’s not bad. We’re going to use dried nettles in our potions after all. I’ve read that they have healing properties,” he said.
I went to fill the watering can with water and I hurried back to continue our talk. “I take it you’re looking forward to Potions.”
“Yes. And Defense Against Dark Arts, too.”
“I’d rather have Defense Against Annoying Brothers,” I muttered and enjoyed rest of Herbology with no Gryffindor present. When Professor Sprout collected our Nettles, we put away the gardening tools and left for Potions. As we had a break ahead of us, we waited in a quiet corner of the dungeon corridor outside the classroom and waited for Lily.
“I can’t believe that-“ I couldn’t bring myself to finish in front of the other kids when I saw Henry, marching down the stairs as if he owned the school.
“I’ve heard that the Forbidden Forest has Acromantulas - maybe we could treat them to a meal?” Severus suggested.
I smirked and nodded. “Definitely. Though I don’t think he’d be very tasty.”
Just then, Lily skipped down the stairs and looked around to find us. Then she headed to our corner.
“Scarlet! Sev! Hello. How was your first lesson?”
“It was okay. What about you?” Sev asked her.
“Oh, it was great! Professor Flitwick is so nice!” she smiled and, before she could say anything else, the professor called us inside.
“Hello, welcome, I’m Professor Slughorn, the Head of Slytherin House and I’ll be teaching you Potions. I’ve prepared some potions, does anyone know how they are called?” the professor asked and pointed at a table with three cauldrons full of colorful potions. “You will learn about all of these potions in your first year. In my opinion, these are very useful brews to know.”
Just then, someone very unexpected (at least I didn’t expect it) spoke up..
Note: I deeply apologize to every non-snotty Ravenclaw :)
PS: The base pictures (people, snake, lion, train etc.) aren’t mine. I’ve done the edits in amazing apps PicsArt, FaceApp and PhotoRetouch.
PPS: The fumes on the rightmost two potions were EXTREMELY hard to cut out properly. It took almost an hour of eraser brush size 1 (if anyone knows how little that is). Just wanted to share how hard it was, no other particular reason I’m saying/writing this.
PPPS (lol): This is the last chapter I have prewritten, but I have two more almost finished. After that, I’m not sure how long will it take to post the following chapters.
