Today's riddle:
Riddle #1 (answered)
I was once wrong when I stated the obvious,
but was right when I refused to believe.
I was falsely accused for obvious reasons,
but caused a similar situation for another.
Who am I?
Hints: This has a wiki page. The answer is a human male and alive. The answer was introduced in the first half of the main series, either in PS or in GoF. Harry has met him. He is an adult, but wasn't when Harry met him. Harry was on good terms with the answer and pretty much always had been. The answer was in more than one book. I would expect the average Potterhead to know the answer. The answer attended Hogwarts, was sorted into either Gryffindor or Slytherin, and was older than Harry. The accusation against him was related to money.
Riddle #2 (answered)
I can only function with consumption,
potentially causing the loss of fingers.
Furthermore, as I live and breathe,
I am truly famous for my characters.
What am I?
Hints: This has a wiki page. The answer is a spell. It has an incantation. The answer cannot consume and can only be consumed in a certain way, but that way has nothing to do with the consumption in the riddle. This was in the main series, PoA, but almost nothing from the riddle is, since most is from HM. The characters set the answer apart from the others in the same category. Consumption here means eating or drinking. The answer is not alive, sentient or tangible. The characters are not people. The answer cannot be used by Muggles and I doubt they're aware of its existence. Loss of fingers can happen to the user of the answer. The answer doesn't have an owner. The answer has been at Hogwarts. Harry hasn't used this, but he knows someone who has and who lost fingers in the process, though not permanently. The spell is part of a process.
Riddle #3 (answered)
I did well at 1 and 2, but not at 3
and I helped establish a group of 4.
I was once functioning as number 5,
yet I am undeniably number 6.
What am I?
Hints: This has a wiki page. The answer was in a companion book, at least in FB, but not everything in the riddle took place in a companion book. The answer is alive and has a Ministry ranking of at least XXX. The numbers mean something different in each line, but refer to similar things in the first line. Harry has encountered some of these numbers.
Riddle #4 (answered)
I foreshadowed a feud;
I stymied a struggle;
I ruined a romance;
I exempted an explanation.
What am I?
Hints: This has a wiki page. This was introduced in the first half of the main series. The struggle had already proven lethal. The answer could be seen as solid, but that really depends: it has a solid incarnation. The romance wasn't ruined because one of the people involved died.
Riddle #5 (answered)
I could be seen as the ace of Hearts,
and I belonged to a pair of Clubs.
I never seemed to care for Diamonds
and I crossed people in Spades.
Who am I?
Hints: The answer has a wiki page. The answer was introduced in the second half of the main series, in either OotP or HB. The answer is a deceased human witch. The people crossed by the answer could be protagonists or antagonists or neither, as the answer crossed multiple people. Harry has met the answer. I think the average Potterhead would know of the answer. The Diamonds are symbolic: they're the embodiment of something else.
