You might want to think about having Harry Potter themed food, since that's pretty cheap if you know what you're doing :)

My sister had a HP themed birthday party, like, 5 years ago, so here's the things I can remember. (This is assuming that you're throwing a party.)

• If there's any rooms that are closed off, or you don't want anyone to enter, you can put up a sign that says something like "Dementors inside! Do not enter!", or "Do not disturb-- three-headed dog inside!" You can make these with just a piece of paper and some cheap art supplies.

• Make the door look like a brick wall, so that it'll be like going through platform 9 3/4. You can just get a large piece of paper and paint it.

• Make butterbeer! There's plenty of recipes online.

• Play Harry Potter games, like HP themed Clue.

• Make or buy ties for each house, and your friends can take the one that belongs to their house!

• If they don't know their house, have them take the quiz!

• Watch one of the movies! It can be any one of them.

That's all the things I can remember.

If you have your guests sorted into different houses and like some competition you can reward them with points for their houses every time they win sth.

With differently coloured sweets (skittles) this is even more fun.
