@CHT64 I have been told that today is a special day. Happy birthday, your Modness. Here’s my present:
Riddle:
I am highly appreciated amongst my fellows
and I am known for unprecedented kindness.
I was a vital part in a brilliant idea
and I have brought unexpected happiness.
What (because the Who is self-explanatory, I hope) am I?
Hints: this first appeared in PS. All of the riddle, with the possible exception of line 1, is in the main series, though the answer itself has appeared elsewhere. This has a wiki page.
This is tangible and solid. This is not sentient, nor magical. This can be bought, but it was never really seen being bought. It does tend to have an owner. Harry has interacted with this. This isn't alive, nor has it ever been alive. This is meant to be consumed, specifically eaten. Muggles know of the answer.
Line 1 is not from the main series. The fellows are many, some good, some bad.
Line 2 is from PS. The answer isn't kind by itself, but was part of an act of kindness. The kindness was accompanied by a seeming lack of kindness directed elsewhere. This lack of kindness was caused by a physical injury.
Line 3 is from CoS. The idea was supposed to uncover a secret, but it didn't really work out as intended. The answer did do what it was supposed to do according to the plan. The secret was important in later books as well. The idea was Hermione's.
Line 4 is from PS. The incarnation in this line is especially appropriate for today.
