(Btw it’s supposed to be more of a book than short story segments, and she will get a letter. Just stay tuned!)
July 2nd, 1991
I woke up early, full of excitement. Today was my eleventh birthday! I ran downstairs, to the kitchen where my mum was cooking breakfast, and my dad reading the paper. Apparently my ten-year-old sister, Patricia, (I call her Patsy,) had not woken up yet.
Dad looks up from his newspaper to sip his coffee when he sees her. “Oh! Hi Emory!”
He said, smiling. This started Mum and she looked around, then spotted Emory. “Oh happy birthday dear!” She came, gave me a hug, and kissed my cheek. “Thanks mum.” I said, sitting down at the table. “Crikey, I can’t believe you’re already eleven! You’re growing up so fast!” “Thanks Dad.” I said with a smile on my face. Patsy came down in her pink- and - white pj’s rubbing her eyes. “Happy birthday Emory.” She yawned, stretching her arms out wide. “Thanks, Patsy.” I said with a grin. “Just in time!” Said Mum, “I made pancakes!” “Yay!” This seemed to wake Patsy. She ran towards the table and sat down. She seemed very excited. My mum came and sat a plate with pancakes, butter, and surrop in front of us. Dad put his newspaper down and Mum sat down with her own plate, after she brought glasses and milk to the table.
“So, are you excited for your birthday?” Dad asked.
“Very!” I replied.
“You know, you’ll most likely be getting your Hogwarts letter today!” Mum said excitedly.
“You really think so?!” I said with such a big smile. How could I forget? I’ve only been waiting for this my whole life! Mum’s a witch, so I know some about this magic stuff. I’m pretty much know as much as my dad though, who’s a muggle.
