Random ideas:

1) When Aragog mentions that he fears the creature in the castle, they could have not revealed that they don't know what it is. Then, one of them could lie that the basilisk will come to the forest if they don't get out alive, or strike a deal that Harry and his friends will defeat the basilisk if the acromantulas let them go

2) I looked this up- according to a few websites, spiders dislike strong scents (like mint and citrus, apparently). Maybe there's some spell that works similar to a perfume and can cause them to retreat, if Theodore remembers what they dislike and Tracey casts the spell? (assuming acromantulas share this trait with normal spiders)

3) In CoS, they wanted to capture Harry and Ron for meat, right? If Hagrid gives them a bunch of food or some other gift(s), that might be avoided, but I'm not too sure about this one

^or, yeah, they could have gotten to the spiders' lair using broomsticks and then escaped (not necessarily to the car because it wouldn't be there, but out of the forest)

It could be that Theo and Harry sneak into the Potions classroom under the invisibility cloak and make a potion to help them. But is could also be that Allison creates a simple stepped plan, and to go to the Acromantulas they walk on foot, and because Tracey knows 'random spells', they could try to learn 'Accio' earlier than usual. More so, it would mess with Book 4, if they learn 'Accio' early.

Another thing is because they are Syltherins, there is a major chance they could show themselves to Lucius Malfoy, and bargain with him to get Hagrid out of Azkaban, who will bring them to the Acromantulas.

I could imagine a version without Aragog alltogether (ok, tbh, I just really dislike him because giant spider and all).

How about Tom had killed Aragog in the diary scene. Hagrid being Hagrid of course burried him. Filch had noticed the lack of spiders a while and was happy about it. A detail that Harry picks up in a conversation between him and whoever. When Hagrid is being taken away he indirectly tells Harry and Ron to visit Aragogs grave, where they discover that it's a spider. Due to the spider fleeing the castle their brains conclude that it's probably not another spider that's causing the problems. So they start to think like Hermione and start researching Tom Riddle. They inquire about his trophy and find out who the girl was, that was killed (I'm sure Howarts has school records of some sort)

Or of course we could go the easy way and have Harry and Ron revisit Myrtles bathroom to idk, get away from Snape and start actually talking to her and that set's it in motion.

I really don't like Aragog, like really really not
