Riddle:
Piscis in Aqua Viridi Appareo
et in Imperio Minervae sum.
Homo Rubeus Cruciatus est,
quod ab Amico non Sectum sum.
Quid sum? (What am I?)
Instructions: read carefully before freaking out over the Latin.
All these Latin words are derived from spells and names, with a few exceptions. Quid (what), Sum (I am or am I), and In (which means in) I used in the last riddle as well. New are Et (and), Est (he/she/it is), Quod (because), Non (not) and A(b) (by). I obviously had to use a few small words to make everything fit, but I doubt these will be much of a problem. The important parts of the riddle are in the remaining words, which are marked by a capital letter, by the way. I allowed myself a few more liberties compared to last time, but you should be able to translate and solve this.
These sentences can be translated in regular English sentences. Latin doesn’t use articles, so you can add ‘the’ and ‘a(n)’ freely. As is common in Latin, the verbs are all at the end of the lines, though you can put them closer to the start of the sentence in English. Every word is singular. Minervae is in the genitive and should therefore be translated by putting the word ‘of’ in front of it. Viridi is an adjective, which says something about Aqua. Piscis is the nominal part of line 1. Homo Rubeus is the subject of est in Line 3, with Homo being a noun and Rubeus being an adjective.
I’ll add to this, if needed.
I think the answer should be rather obvious, if you can translate (part of) the riddle, but I am curious about your translations.
Hints: the answer is sentient. The answer is in the Main Series. The answer has been alive.
Line 1 is meant literally.
Line 2 is not as connected to the HP series as the others, because it is closely tied to Mythology.
