Off-topic posts are banned on the wiki as per the Guidelines. The purpose of this policy is to outline the list of certain events when wiki staff can create official OT posts for users to engage in off-topic conversation. It also deals with a set of guidelines that must be followed when dealing with Event OT posts.
Event OT Guidelines:
Event OT posts will remain active for no more than 24 hours unless mentioned otherwise. Even in exceptional cases, it should not exceed more than 8 days (or 192 hours). Only a limited set of Event OTs can be exceptions.
There can be a total of 15 Event OT posts in a year. Not more than that. The purpose of keeping the upper cap is to make sure that the Event OT posts remain "special".
Events that can qualify as a possible time for an OT are birthdays, anniversaries, very important wizarding world events, and possibly real-life occasions/holidays. These events should be significant and ideally have something to do with the wizarding world.
Events can be chosen or removed from the list based on a DoM discussion, and if necessary, then by a DoM vote.
Event OT posts should be properly spaced out so that they do not overlap or are posted in close proximity to each other.
All rules and guidelines of the wiki that are applicable to the Discussion board apply to the Event OT posts as well, and all users must abide by them.
