One of Minerva McGonagall's brothers is a professional quidditch player. I think this hc adds to her liking quidditch

It would explain why he didn't take it back and give the other fighters a chance to say goodbye and it would also round out what Dumbledore said in the first book, that nothing can bring back the dead
