Draco's father, Lucius Malfoy, is a Death Eater on Voldemort's side. The very same Voldemort who killed Harry's parents, who loved Harry.

Draco Malfoy was raised to be exactly like his father. The only reason he offered Harry friendship is because he thought Harry was a Dark Wizard, once he found out Harry wasn't who he thought him to be, he hated him, and anyone else that was on his side.

There wouldn't be any war, considering Harry, as technically an orphan, would probably begin to "relate" with Voldemort, eventually joining him. In the beginning he already had pretty much a full-on villain backstory. Plus, he never knew that Voldemort killed his parents, so they could keep it a secret.

• Harry declined Draco's friendship and chose to side with the Weasley's instead. Since we know there is a long lasting feud between Lucius Malfoy and Arthur Weasley, this would strike young Draco as a sense of betrayal and there's nothing a Slytherin takes worse than the feeling like they've been betrayed (regardless of their age or opinions). Everything after said point, would only add to that.

• Lucius being Lucius would've loathed (and possibly beaten) his son for treating Harry with any kind of respect. Harry was the downfall and possible future death of the Voldemort that Lucius was still loyal to and wanted Draco to honor as well. So, being nice isn't really an option.

But why would he even offer friendship, considering that second account? Because as I said, Harry was the downfall of Voldemort's power reign and Draco fears Voldemort (that is his Boggart). And, honestly, viewing everything from Draco's perspective (as someone who cares to know how the real Draco is and not just what people choose to look at him as), I, personally, wouldn't have offered my friendship to Harry a second time but Draco did. In his latest years, he was willing to risk everything (his father's resentment would've literally ruined him) just to fix his mistakes. I don't think Draco ever truly hated Harry. Harry hurt his feelings but even so, you can't deny that over the years, Draco was still downright obsessed with him. Was is love, was it hate, was it admiration, was it a little bit of each? Who knows.

Hmm, Voldemort killed Harry's parents and tried to kill him but only left a scar on his forehead and Harry was abused by Petunia and Vernon. That doesn't make Harry a villain, that makes him a tragic character. Yes, villains can be tragic characters, but Harry was not a villain, only just what I said before: a tragic character.

Also, since Hagrid told Harry Voldemort was the one who killed his parents, considering that Harry had affection for his parents despite not getting to be with them long before Voldemort killed them, there's a tiny chance he would ever join him. That'd be like saying Hermione would join Bellatrix because she erased her parent's memories even when Bellatrix tortured her.

Well, when Harry was offered friendship by Draco, he wasn't a good wizard, nor a dark wizard. He had barely just found out about the wizarding world.

But Draco believed Harry to be a dark wizard because Lucius told him that he was, and that's the only reason he ever tried to befriend Harry, this would pretty much count as attempted manipulation.

Harry declined Draco's friendship offer because Draco tried to manipulate him just because he thought that Harry was a dark wizard because Lucius told Draco he was, there was indeed a long lasting feud between Lucius and Arthur, yes, and it's not Draco's fault that Lucius lied to him, but that doesn't make Draco's attempted manipulation okay, and since Harry declined Draco's friendship offer, yes, Draco did indeed, hate him. But that's not the only reason he hated him. Yes, Lucius is another the reason for Draco hating Harry, but Draco has more than two reasons for hating him.

1. As a Dramione fan saying this, Draco hated Harry for being friends with Hermione, a muggleborn, and Draco was raised to be a pureblood supremacist, one who is against Hermione and her people, although it's not Draco's fault he is one, however, this doesn't make Draco's bullying Harry and Hermione okay, and Harry is another reason for Draco's hating Hermione, because she's friends with Harry. And if the said muggleborn is Harry's friend, Draco will bully her even more.

2. Harry was friends with Ron Weasley, a blood traitor which some of Draco's family, like Bellatrix for example, consider to be "worse" than muggleborns. And as you and I pointed out, Lucius and Arthur have a feud going on so Draco's hatred of Ron grew even worse as Ron was both a blood-traitor and a Weasley, which also increases his hatred of Harry because he's Ron's best friend.

3. Draco is envious of Harry because of his fame, friendships, and the fact that he's better at flying than Draco, and Draco believed himself to be truly special, and he wanted to be more admired and it p***es him off that Harry is more admired at school than him, because in Draco's mind, Harry makes him feel like an outcast, and Crabbe and Goyle don't really count as Draco's friends since they're nothing more than pretty much his servants.

4. Harry Potter is a Gryffindor, and Draco Malfoy is a massive Slytherin fan and a Slytherin himself, and Gryffindor and Slytherin have had a long time rivalry, so this makes his relationship with Harry a lot worse.

Also, Draco used to fancy Voldemort, although this is more of Lucius's fault, Draco still chose Voldemort's side because he knew Voldemort wanted Harry dead, sure, he might've left Voldemort at the end, but that doesn't change everything bad he did to Harry in the past.

Whether Draco offered Harry friendship once or twice, it wasn't genuine at all, it was clear manipulation.

The obsessive behavior is another thing that's unhealthy.

Draco's obsession with Harry was his hatred of him, it was definitely hate, no love was ever hinted, Draco was obsessed with Hermione too, but there wasn't any love there either, I may be a Dramione shipper, but I've also seen the red flags in their relationship that need to be fixed, but there are much more red flags in Drarry than Dramione.

Not being rude, but from what you're describing, it sounds a lot like you're trying to romanticize the abuse going on in Draco and Harry's relationship

You can ship Drarry all you want, but Draco abused and bullied Harry, and that's Canon.

Please do me a favor, don't glorify abuse please, I've done so in the past with Dramione and it really bit me in the *** really, really hard to the point where I almost puked, I don't want to glorify abuse.

There's a big difference between Enemies-To-Lovers and Abuse.

Draco bullied and abused Harry, and his obsession with him was hatred, nothing more.

He never had any romantic feelings for Harry, and if he did, it was probably lust, there's also a difference between crushes and lust. And lust is never okay, ever. It's creepy and weird. So please, for the love of God, don't glorify lust or abuse.

Draco was just a poor misguided misunderstood boy and young adolescent. He didn’t really hate Harry, Ron, & Hermione he was just jealous of them & wanted to be like them. That’s why he bullied them a lot while he was growing up. Then there was his father’s legacy he grew up with & the expectations that was expected of him. This is what Draco dealt with in his sixth year at Hogwarts. He didn’t want to kill Dumbledore he knew it was wrong and he deeply cared. But Draco needed to prove himself to his family and failed. It was because of his actions as a kid & a young adolescent made Draco decide he wanted to be a better man and a better life than the one he had. That’s why he married Astoria and had their son Scorpius. If Draco had parents who weren’t death eaters and he had better influences in life he would’ve been a different kid, a different adolescent, and a different adult.
