Should be pretty easily found in the Guidelines, which are the discussions rules that every user here is encouraged to read (under "help posts").

The reason is because we see a lot of users wanting to ask about others' houses, and the users responding would reply with the exact same information in every similar post. It's a lot easier to keep everything in one place, and it's also cool to see the amount of people that are in each house via the poll

Oooh ty but how do new users find the post?

Usually when there's a new user, I'll post a welcome message that looks like this- it has the links to everything and should make the post even easier to find :)
