Yeah, that's for sure. But taking into account how James Potter's personality was before he met Lily and became a better person for her... Who knows? Maybe Fleamont and Euphemia were as horrible as Vernon, Petunia and Dudley.

Are you all forgetting that James' parents, according to Rowling's bio of the Potter family on Pottermore, predeceased James and Lily? That still doesn't tell us what happened to Lily's parents, though...although many speculate that they were killed by Death Eaters who were trying to find the Potter family.
