If a half blood married a pure blood what would the child be?
If a half blood married a pure blood what would the child be?
This one is complicated, as some text in the books seems to imply that if half bloods keep marrying each other or purebloods eventually their descendants are considered pure-bloods, but other text implies that is you have even a single drop of muggle blood you're halfblood, so it is unclear.
One of the most difficult cases is if a squib and a muggle have a baby and the baby is magical what are they, because if they were further down the line they'd be considered muggleborn, but in this case nearly the entire family on the squibs side is magical including the child all except for their parent, so it almost seems like they are halfblood, and yet Mafalda who this applies to is classified as a muggleborn, her entire paternal family are magical, but because her father is a squib and her mother is a muggle she is classified as a muggleborn.
So yeah, its complicated.
I believe it'd be a Halfblood. Here's what I think (emphasis on the think) the Wizarding World bloodlines are like:
Pureblood & Pureblood = Pureblood
Pureblood & Halfblood = Halfblood
Pureblood & Muggleborn = Halfblood (half of Pureblood, half of Muggle-blood, hence halfblood)
Halfblood & Halfblood = Halfblood
Halfblood & Pureblood = Halfblood
Halfblood & Muggleborn = Halfblood
Muggleborn & Muggleborn = Muggleborn
Muggleborn & Halfblood = Halfblood
Muggleborn & Pureblood = Halfblood.
Not too sure on Squibs and everything, so I'd ask someone else for that. All in all, from my understanding, every Wizarding couple, unless of the same blood status, will have a Halfblooded child.
I believe they would still be considered half blood
A child of two muggleborns is considered also muggleborn, I didn't know that?
^ I think so, this is just how it is in my head though, since they both have Muggle blood with no Half/Pureblood mixed in so there's no way for their child to be Halfblooded. I suppose they'd be a Muggleborn and not a Muggle, since there's magic in the two parents - not sure about a Muggle and a Muggleborn though
Actually, it doesn't really work that way. Muggle-borns only happen when a magical child is born to two magical parents- two muggle-born parents would make a half-blood child.
In general, blood statuses are determined by the grandparents of the magical child in question. If all four grandparents are magical, the child would be pure-blood; otherwise, they could only be half-blood or muggle-born. So to answer the original question, it would depend on half-blood's parentage. (source)
^ That's really interesting! The blood statuses and that is my favourite thing to learn about lmao
A WIZARD WITH MUGGLE BLOOD IS A HALF BLOOD
^ alright- calm down-
Aammmm i thought that too
What do you think?
