Its not really a case of deserve. Harry didn’t even want to kill Voldemort. He just felt obligated to.
Molly was just being a protective mother. She accepted Fleur eventually.
Still, I dislike her and would rather Neville killed her, if Bellatrix had to die at all.
Neville already killed Nagini. And his motivation for killing Bellatrix would just be vengeance, which is a lame and gross motivation. Molly’s motivation of protecting her family is much more noble and relatable.
I still dislike her. Neville deserved a bigger redemption arc, where he is no longer this cowardly child, but rather a strong, brave person. If he killed Bellatrix, that would be him doing it for his parents, which I believe is more relatable. Many people do things for their parents because they think they aren't good enough, or they want to live up to their legacy, or it's like Neville's case, where his parents aren't well so he's doing things he thinks they'll be proud of.
Killing Bellatrix wouldn’t have been for his parents. It would have been for himself, in a futile effort to make himself feel better about what happened to his parents.
He already told Voldemort to eff off and then destroyed one of his horcruxes right in front of him while he was on fire. Neville already proved his worth. I wouldn’t call it a redemption though, because Neville never did anything wrong.
Perhaps I worded it wrong, I suppose it's a character growth? Not sure what to call it.
Fair point, but I want Neville to kill her - or, even better, she doesn't die at all.
She died right at the end of the story. Its not like it would have made a huge difference if she had survived. She wouldn’t have shown up again anyway.
