The prefect one also got me and I can understand the madame one but in French, where the word originates from, if your talking about a female the word would be feminine but since how this word is only used for females there is no masculine version because males use monsieur and I'm just realizing that this is a bunch of rambling that quickly went off topic and I'm sure nobody cares anymore and you've probably stopped reading this but if you've gotten to this point thank you for putting up with my nonsense.
