“Get off of me.” Yarhan snarled, trying to hide the hint of the American accent he still had, glaring at a 5th year from Arumcor house as she pressed her chest against his shoulder. She pouted, holding onto him tighter.
“Come on, Baby,” She said, looking up at him through her lashes.
“I said get off of me.” He repeated, shoving her off of him, disgusted by her attempts to flirt. “I don’t like women who throw themselves at guys. And I like women who are actually attractive, which you don’t fit that.” He glared down at her, watching as she began crying.
“But-” She started, getting cut of by Yarhan.
“Don’t start. Now go. I don’t want to see you again.” He warned her, watching as she rushed off. “Gross.”
“Don’t you think that was a little rude, Mate?” Shawn asked, looking over his shoulder and watching the girl rush off as he spoke. “I think, personally, that that was quite rude. Poor girl just wanted to go out with you.”
“I don’t care,” Yarhan said, rolling his eyes. “She deserved it. You know how many Korinthians she’s done that to?”
“Guess she’s got a type,” Shawn laughed. “At least I haven’t had that.”
“Just wait,” Yarhan said, giving a little laugh himself. “Did you hear about what happened?”
“Er- no, I don’t think so.”
“I mean why we were so quickly told to go to our common rooms. Did anyone tell you why?” He said, his hazel eyes meeting Shawn’s bluish ones.
“No, but I heard talk that there was a dead Marsukal student. I think, though, that it was simply a rumor. Right?” He said, pausing as Yarhan shook his head slightly.
“No, there was a second year that found a body and rushed to get the nearest teacher. It was a Marsukal student. And it clearly, was no accident.”
They both got quiet, noticing a student from Garibald house walking by and looking at the two of them. Part of Yarhan worried that he’d let his accent slip, as in the years that he’s lived in Britain he still sometimes does so. He walked towards the two of them, quickly realizing that it was simply Mars.
“Shawn, do you know where Ana went? I can’t find her anywhere,” Mars said, looking between Yarhan and Shawn as they both shook their heads. “Maybe someone else does. Well, thank you anyways.” They both nodded, watching as he walked away.
“Wonder why he’s looking for Ana,” Shawn said, shrugging it off.
“Maybe he has a crush on her,” Yarhan joked. He couldn’t think of a time that he had joked except with… Them. “Anyways, I’m going to go. I have homework that needs to get done.”
“Bye,” Shawn said, watching as he left.
Yarhan turned, walking past two students snogging and heading to the Korinthia common room. He quickly moved past the girls who were gossiping in the corner, sitting down at a table.
Victoria walked into the common room, slumping down in a chair across from him. It seemed, today, that everyone would try and get him to talk. He crossed his arms over his chest, something he did with everyone besides Shawn. He thought about how quickly he’d left, leaving his friend alone. That was one thing he hated - the secrecy of his new life. He couldn’t risk anyone knowing what he’d done in the past. What he’s been doing now.
“I hate most of these professors,” She said, pulling out parchment and a quill. She adjusted her bangs, leaning down and beginning to write the essay. Yarhan sat, his expression stone cold. He stood up, the chair dragging as he pushed back. “Going back to your dorm?” He nodded, walking away without saying a word.
He sat down on his bed, his mind wandering.
He knew he’d make it through this. He just didn’t know if he’d make it through without getting caught.
