I don't know why but I associate Ernie's crew with Technical Death Metal. For years I've had the idea for a "Hogwarts International Battle of the Bands" fanfic. All the students get into bands and compete with each other and one of them is Ernie/Hannah/Justin/Susan. They have a thread running through the background where they start out as a conventional hard rock band, and with each event they get darker and more extreme until during the final showdown they're playing Technical Death Metal. I think it fits in with the hardworking trait, as Tech is famous for requiring greater skill than almost every other genre. It's also kind of funny for Hufflepuff to be playing music that gets a 10 on the Mohs scale of Rock and Metal Hardness.
