I spent a weekend at a Vietnam War reenactment and thought, “Hey, this would be a pretty fun RP. Why the heck not?”
(Your OC(s) Perspective)
Friday, 1 July, 1967
You wake early so you can catch the bus to work. Nothing interesting happens there really. On your way home, the bus drives past a group of people protesting the war in Vietnam. Eventually, you make it home, having thought of your time at school the rest of the ride. You go to check the owl dropbox before heading inside, but hesitate for a moment. You remember you’re 18 now. Old enough to be drafted. You shake the thought from your head, no need to be such a downer, right? You look inside the dinky wooden box and notice there’s only one letter inside, and it’s addressed to you. You can feel your heart drop as you bring the letter inside and open it. You haven’t felt this anxious about a letter since you were 11 years old. And just as you did then, you know exactly what this letter is now. Across the top of the page in big, bold letters, “ORDER TO REPORT FOR INDUCTION.” You’ve been drafted. Soon enough, you were off to basic training as a member of the Magical Warfare Division (MWD) of the US Army. From there you go to Advanced Individual Training (AIT) and learn your specialized skill. By this point, it’s mid November of 1967. You get a week to visit with your parents or close friends and then you get shipped off to Vietnam to start your year long tour of duty.

You’ve been stationed at Khe Sanh in south Vietnam for about a month now. Throughout that time there have been small skirmishes along the base perimeter, most of which easily repelled. Today, however, you wake up to heavy enemy artillery on your position. Luckily, you were so tired you fell asleep in your fatigues last night so you’re already in uniform. You scurry to grab your web gear, pistol, helmet, and wand before leaving your tent. As you exit the tent, explosions go off around you as the enemy artillery lands. This is where we will begin the RP.
Form:
*The Specialized Equipment part of the form is related to the special skills. For example, Since my OC Dakota is a Demolitionist, he carries a bag of various explosive equipment. Someone trained as a Sniper would likely carry a rifle and ammunition. Stuff like that.
