From pure logic stand point I find this very odd, as a corporal Patronus is an extremely tricky bit of magic- it's part of why Harry got an O on his DADA O.W.L. which means it's impressive for a fifth year. Harry of course learned it in his 3rd year, and there were members of the DA that learned it as 4th years (like Ginny).

So given that Snape is an extraordinarily talented wizard, let's say he learned it at age 15, and at that time discovers his Patronus form.. are we really saying he only fell truly in love at age 16+? Otherwise it follows that his first Patronus would have been a Doe..

Snape seems to love Lily much earlier than this- but perhaps you need to 'understand' love better before it becomes strong enough for a Patronus change.. something like Thestrals.. it's one thing to see death, it's another to really understand its full implication...
