I have only tried the butterbeer gummies before and they're pretty weird

Why are they weird? they sound lovely to me!

I don't really remember but it was oddly sticky and it tastes like ancient artificial butter if you know what I mean

It's a type of caramel and butter hard candy that's really popular here in New Zealand. I would highly recommend trying them if you ever get the chance. There are other types as well.

The closest I can think for an American version would probably be butterscotch, which is primarily brown sugar and butter.
