Now, before I get into my hot take, I just wanna say that I do like Snape's character. It is complicated and I like that. Even though it might feel like I hate Snape, I don't actually hate him. Just saying that before I get into this
Now this is the part where I'm PROBABLY gonna get hate for. Severus Snape is not a misunderstood character. I do get that he was bullied by James Potter and Sirius Black, and he was actually working for Dumbledore this entire time. However, James and Sirius actually grew up from that. Snape never did and he was bitter about it for the entirety of his life. And I also get that he lost Lily, the love of his life. But before AND after that, he was just obsessing over her even when she said no multiple times. That's just to the next level of pathetic.
(By the way, if I was saying I wouldn't be bitter about being bullied for most of my Hogwarts years, I'd be lying. I would be bitter, but not to the extent Snape was.)
Snape was so upset about it that he literally bullied children for no good reason other than "Oh, James bullied me. So, I should bully kids!" I thought people who were bullied would know not to do the same thing that the bully did. But apparently Snape doesn't know.
I feel especially bad for Harry and Neville here. Snape absolutely hated his guts because he was related to James, his lifelong enemy. Now some of you Snape defenders might be like "Oh but he had to, so he could stay being a Death Eater!" Still absolutely no excuse for what Snape put him through. Also, Neville was bullied so hard by Snape that he LITERALLY was his worst fear. Come on man... imagine being so terrified of your OWN teacher that they are your worst fear. That's actually so messed up
Ah well, I'm outta here lol. If you still think he's misunderstood, I will respect that and leave you alone. But this is just my opinion
Edit: Can't believe I forgot to mention Hermione here! I feel bad for her as well. She did NOTHING to the guy and he hates her. He literally neglected her
(example: she raised her hand because she knew the answer in the first ever potions class we see and he called on Harry anyways)
Also, didn't Draco put a curse on Hermione in GOB that made her teeth grow alarmingly fast? Yeah, I'm pretty sure Snape was like "I don't see anything different". Meanwhile with the curse that Harry put on one of the Bronze Trio members (can't remember which one he put it on) he was like "Go to the hospital wing". Seriously...
