Trans women are women.
Besides, has a trans woman ever one best actress anyway? I don’t follow the Oscars, but this sounds like a non-issue.
No, they’re men pretending to be women for their own reasons.
A trans woman has been shortlisted for the best actress award. And many, many, women have lost the record for a sport to a trans woman
Acting is a weird one.. there's nothing about men being genetically better actors.
I get the frustration of physical differences, but artistic ability?
People are more biased towards giving men awards. Whether it’s conscious or unconscious it is always present. One time, instead of having a head boy and a head girl, a school decided to have 2 head children. And guess what? It was two boys. Also @Icecreamdif its not a big problem to you because your not the one having your awards taken from you from someone who shouldn’t be able to be put in for it.
So one trans woman was nominated and didn’t even win out of almost a hundred academy awards?
I’m not going to get into the differences between sex and gender identity, because I would like to get back on topic, but you are just wrong about trans women being men. Do you really think that anybody would face the stigma associated with being transgender just to win a contest?
Yes. Less than 1% of people are transgender, and if they really did believe they had magically transformed into women, they would still not be fairly judged on winning anything.
I agree, no more trans debates now.
Less than 1% are transgender, and yet people like JK think they are a serious threat to cisgender people.
Men are known to sexually assault women. Can you blame them?
This is not the direction I was hoping this post would go. JKR's comments are a complex issue, and the wiki isn't an great place to hold these discussions--especially since this is veering far from the realm of Harry Potter and towards the general question of trans rights, which you clearly are aware of.
However, I will say that comments such as "[trans women are] men pretending to be women" and "if they really did believe they had magically transformed into women..." are blatantly transphobic. This is not a time where it's acceptable to say "sorry if this is transphobic..." and then continue the same offensive arguments without regard for any consequences. Transphobia is indeed against Fandom's Terms of Use and not acceptable on this wiki. If any part of this surprises you, I would suggest reading up on what's considered transphobic and trying not to disregard views that contradict your own.
Since it looked like you were unaware of the controversy surrounding JKR before deciding to dive headfirst into this argument, here's an article detailing the issue. If your views remain unchanged, please keep them to yourself in the future. This discussion will now be closed.
