The book is definitely better, but it was one of the better movies. Since the book was shorter, the movie didn’t have to cut a lot out like the later movies did. That meant that the movie’s plot actually made sense. Chris Columbus is also just a much better director than David Yates.
@Icecreamdif If the HBO series has the production level of the movies, and all the content of the books... is this what fans have been asking for all these years? OR is it just another unoriginal cash grab remake by a company unwilling to take a risk on new stories and ideas?
Perhaps both..
@Icecreamdif Chris Columbus is my favourite of the movies' directors, because he did such a great job bringing the books to life on screen; "Stone" and "Chamber" are the most faithful to their book source, and I feel they're among the most faithful book-to-screen adaptations I've seen, of any movies!

Perhaps both..It indeed could be both
But I will never entirely like the idea of a bully like Snape being Black-

When the series has progressed enough to be included in Polls like this one, and assuming it's been done well... do you ever see the majority of people voting the Series above the books and movies because it's the best of both?
Idk if I remember seeing such polls
That's what I mean about 'after the series progresses enough to be included'.
In the future- do you think the 'I love the books because of all the content' argument will put the Series ahead of the movies and perhaps even the books
Philosophers Stone
Both titles are valid, as I’m sure everyone here knows.
It will be interesting to see if the new show continues the trend of having a separate American version that calls it the Sorcerer’s Stone, or if they decide to just call it Philosopher’s everywhere.
What do you think?
