I feel like with JKR you have to seperate the works with the author....I personally dont agree with the opinions that rowling has on the trans community but her books made my childhood.

I think hate is a strong word. I hate her ideology, and I hate what she’s doing. I also can’t say that I actually like her anymore. But I think hate is too strong for my feelings towards her.

I know there’s been drama with her, but I don’t pay attention to those things.

The books are great, and that’s all I care about.

And u should separate the books from the author.

You can separate books from the author, but you don’t have to. It’s a personal choice. You can argue that by reading the books, and certainly by paying money for them, that you are endorsing JK and her worldview. That isn’t my opinion, but it is a valid take. And I am being a bit of a hypocrite here. There are other awful people who I would never buy a book from. If I hadn’t already been a lifetime Harry Potter fan by the time that JK came out as a bigot, I probably would have refused to read anything written by her no matter how good it might be.

I strongly disagree with many of her opinions. However, it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the books, and I still think she's a phenomenal author. I honestly wouldn't care what her personal views were if she kept them to herself, but she uses her platform to spread hate, and that bothers me.

There's a difference between having opinions and actually spending a ton of time ruining people's lives.

So i respect jkr as an author, and if she just said her opinions i'd be fine with her.

Unfortunately, she decides to ruin trans people's lives.

Anyways, i dont really pay attention to these things, so i dont really care much about her.

Before i knew all this though, her and the harry potter books pretty much saved my life, in a way. and she literally made my entire childhood.

@Icecreamdif I feel much the same way as you. I love the books and the movies, and I can for the most part separate the art from the artist in this case, but I do take a lot of issues with what JKR has said and done, and I haven't felt comfortable buying any Harry Potter-related items since this controversy started. I'm probably not even going to watch the HBO series).

It's a personal choice, like you said, and I have no problem if others will continue to buy or enjoy Harry Potter-related items; I'll just enjoy what I already have and leave it at that.
