Alan Rickman would have turned 79 today.

He will be forever known for his deep, resonant voice, which he used to great effect in many of his roles. His tight jaw and vocal coach's assessment of a "spastic soft palate" contributed to his distinctive voice.

And he will always be remembered as Severus Snape from Harry Potter film series.

He will be remembered, and he will be missed.

And he will never be forgotten.

Now before fighting me in the comments, a young James knew that Snape liked lily he had to get rid of him in any sort of way, this is a theory and it's my opinion, james never regreted what he did to Snape If he had expressed any of this guilt, Sirius and Remus would've told Harry that as part of their comforting in OoTP. “Oh, Harry, James actually regretted bullying Snape a lot. But he didn't,did he? Also it's impossible as the potters were really close to Dumbledore and Snape works for Dumbledore James had many chances to apologize before his death and a young snape had no anger issues in fact he was a shy little kid so there is no way in any type of anger Snape calles his only escape from his parents his trauma and his bullies,lily, a mudblood. James was a bully and used bullying to impress lily even if it meant to bully her. This is an unpopular opinion on James and yes I have read the books and watched the movies

It's been a while I've been on the Harry Potter sub-reddit and I was looking for some stuff when I noticed this post, you may know of the art-breeder thing, it can make a character resemble with their book counterpart based on their description, and this is book Snape made with art-breeder by u/a_n_s_i_t

I don't know how accurate it got him, but this is a good one in my opinion. I was wondering when people talk about how Rickman was too good looking to play Snape, and the unflattering feature Snape is described with is his hooked nose, yellow uneven teeth and greasy hair, how are you going to find an actor looking like that?

I always see a character as to their book description, and it's how I visualise them whenever someone mention them, even if Rickman is not how I see him, he was the perfect Snape and the best casting choice, but I remain convinced Tim Roth or Adrien Brody would have been a great Snape. If Alan Rickman was younger then it would've been the best casting choice accurate to the book in any medium ever I'd argue, regardless of anything I loved Alan Rickman's Snape, Imelda Staunton's Umbridge and Helena Carter's Bellatrix.

But I was confused about something else also, the thing is, I like Snape as flawed, iniquitous and villainous character and he is my favourite character for that, and I don't like him one bit as a person but I don't understand why saying something good about the character is such a big deal, do people who like him need to be told he isn't good and his true intention or something about his infatuation, or all the evil and irremediable stuff he has done? It's like I can't like Snape without having the opinion he's a good person which I don't even have but whenever I say he is my favourite character, there's always some people who are so certain that I have the same opinion as all other Snape fan which got ridiculous at a point and I left the Harry Potter sub-reddit because of their threat's and personal attack's, I don't even know if I should call myself a fan or not for the sole reason as of he's my favourite character, but all the opinion I have of him as a character is quite negative and unfavourable.

I haven't been here for a while but I can't tell if it's quite the same around here as well.

What do you think Alan's reading? I've wondered about this for a while. I've just thought he was like, going over Dan, Emma, and Rupert's homework. I heard that they did homework on set but I'm just curious...

No matter how good the actor is, since the actor isn't actually doing it, it can't portray 100%.

Not saying Rickman's acting skills are bad, he is the best choice we have, seriously.

People now are like, "You see that look of pity in "Snape"? This proves he is very good!" But you're wrong. MAYBE it isn't like that in the books, or MAYBE more MILD.

You can literally see the pain in Draco, WHAT IF, it is actually A BIT more MILD? Maybe a small change of expression changed our looks of HP?
