Why didn’t the basilisk as it were, “finish off” her victims after all most if not all of them were alone when attacked why not just idk bite them in two.

The out of universe reason for this is that, at this point, the books are relatively lighthearted children's fantasy horror. And for those that says it’s not horror Quirrel’s true allegiance and what he had on the back of his head at the end Of Philosopher’s stone is still terrifying. Killing off 12 year olds and one 16 year old and an unpleasant but beloved by her owner cat, isn’t really lighthearted in tone lol.

But what could be the in universe reason for it?

So, Harry was bitten by a basilisk in CoS, of course Fawkes came in, cried and saved Harry, but we all know in DH Harry finds out he is a Horcrux but here is the twist, you can destroy a Horcrux with basilisk venom, how was Harry's horcrux not destroyed when the Baslisk bit him, yeah I understand Fawkes saved him but can't you then mend other Horcruxes? I'm not sure if there is a 100% answer for this but just a thing to think Abt <3

Just had a thought- as The memory of Tom in Chamber of Secrets was controlling the Basilisk, do you think Harrys protection played a part in his survival of the encounter?

Could it have saved him from a death stare?

As you may know, negative opinions about Slytherin is a common feature that is regularly expressed by multiple characters throughout the series both in all eight movies and especially in all seven books, and also in both the prequels (such as Fantastic Beasts) and the sequels (like the Cursed Child). Whilst anti-Slytherin biased is expressed by so many characters (including Harry himself), which characters do you believe had the strongest anti-Slytherin views?

Harry got stabbed by a Basilisk teeth in his arm

Why wasn't this "horcrux" destroyed by that time???

I mean, didn't he get bitten by it? Was it because of Fawkes' tears? Share your thoughts on the comments!

So a basilisk kills you if you look into it's eyes and you become petrified if you look at it it's eyes through a reflection, then what would happen if a basilisk looked at it's own eyes in a reflection?

They'd both die, wouldn't they?

• So why wasn't the bit of Voldemort in him destroyed...?

• B/c of Fawkes's tears?

• But does that heal the bit of Voldemort in him too?

• I mean, even though Harry got healed by phoenix tears, the bit of Voldemort in him wouldn't come back too, right...?

• B/c Horcruxes depend on their hosts?

• If that works, than Voldemort could theoretically come back by repairing the locket, cup, etc.

I sit in my cave, so homely, yet lonely, no one is to be seen, as I coil around myself.

I hear a voice, so bright and cheery, of a boy with no ill intent and a purest heart.

I hope he does not see me, too gleeful and happy to go in these soulful and joyless caves. I would be at utmost misery if he were to die by me.

As he enters my cave, I close my eyes and hope for the best, perhaps he will find something of value in these caves.
