Harry Potter Head Cannon

It’s common knowledge that the Potters had a cat. It was mentioned in Lily’s letter to Sirius. It is not clarified wether this cat died or not during Voldemorts attack.

All we have per descriptions of this cat is that

1. It was enough of a Potter to make the list when they went into hiding

2. Harry scared it with his new broom he got from Sirius.

There is further no mention of said cat.

On the other hand, don't we know another, really old, beaten down, ugly, sad, sad cat?

A cat that befriended Sirius Black and seemed to KNOW Peter Pettigrew's smell, hold a grudge against him, even?

Part-kneazle, so it has a remarkable ability for finding things that are shiny and that it has a connection to, like, say, a family member.

A cat that knows it's way around Hogwarts, around the Whomping Willow, almost like it had been there before with another owner.

A cat that absolutely REFUSED to let

Hermione leave that shop without him after seeing a certain rat, was CRAZED, almost.

We have no mention of this cat/kneazle's age, except that it had been in the shop for a while and no one had wanted it. Magical creatures live a long time. Cats live a long time. It's within reason that this cat could be 30, even 40 years old.

It makes too much sense.

The Potter cat is Crookshanks.

This is by far one of my favorite HP headcanon

and no one can convince me that this isn't real.

Hagrid says in PS that he does not like cats, they allegedly make him sneeze.

"- an' I don' like cats, they make me sneeze.''

That must mean he's allergic? So he didn't get Harry a cat, he got him beloved Hedwig. (who didn't deserve to die btw, love her.) But about two years later, Hermione gets a cat, who's part kneazle. His name is Crookshanks. Then, Hagrid becomes COMC professor, which means he's around Hermione much more. She'd have cat hair on her clothing, from being with Crookshanks all the time. Also, worth mentioning, so is the rest of the Golden Trio, I mean, there are plenty of mentions of Harry scratching Crookshanks behind the ears, and him LAYING on Harry. So Harry would also have fur. Is it because they changed clothes for COMC, or is it just yet another plot hole JKR forgot to fill?

I'm genuinely confused. Pls help🥲 🥲 🥲

Hogwarts allowed students to bring pets to Hogwarts as long as they fall to a specific criteria of animals.

Harry had Hedwig which to the wizarding community owls are a practical pet for mail delivery. Hogwarts had an Owlery so when not with Harry or in her cage at Gryffindor dorms, she was likely in the Owlery with the other owls.

Scabbers, Crookshanks and Trevor were pets to other students and half the time we didn't know where they were.

We don't know how many students in Hogwarts had pets, but pressuming half of them have at least a toad, cat or rat you'd think there would be more animal droppings, or disputes amongst students on pets hunting their pets, or Neville not being the only one looking for their pets. Given students have class to tend means they cannot observe them all the time so where are all these pets in Hogwarts?

I pressume the Hogwarts house elves clean up after them at least given no droppings seen in the corridors but still doesn't explain where the pets are or who looks after them whentheir owners attend classes.

This one is a little weird but consider. Lily also becomes an illegal animagi. When James dies he sacrificed himself for Lilly and Harry. Lilly still doesn’t react well to the spell and she gets stuck as her animagi animal. Her eye color and maybe a few different aspects of her change as well but she is actually… Crookshanks
