Ever notice how there dark magic and dark wizards/witches but not light magic or even grey magic. Thinking about this—is dark magic just avenues of magic that haven’t been explored or might just be dangerous.
It seems to me that the ministry just labels these obscure magics as dark not because they make you evil or they all inherently corrupt your soul (we know some do) but because like all government they employ censorship in the types of magic and information that they want the general public to know.
I get that some magic really is black and vile (interesting tho) like soul magics and necromancy, but curses and rituals or other foreign and unknown magics—are they really dark?
Is Legilimency and Occlumency dark magics.
I think of a dozen ways to use these that can both be harmful and illegal.
There’s even a whole extensive restricted section in Hogwarts that any student with half a brain and a measure of curiosity could sneak into.
Is it dark because the ministry doesn’t want people to know about it? Is it dark because the dangers it bring to novice wizards and witches?
I’d really like to know what you gouts have to say on this? Do you agree, disagree, don’t care?
