Gryffindor common room

Can someone tell me WHY they put Gryffindors in a Tower?? Like, I get it its their dorm, but do you think that they are gonna dare each other to do flips off the tower?? T E L L M E How much Gryffindors ended up in the Hospital because of that? H O W M A N Y HM?
