Hogwarts founders

Hello guys! I want to write a fanfiction about four founders of Hogwarts, but I noticed that the construction of the castle dates back to around 1000 to provide a safe place for young wizards to study during the witch hunts, which occurred a good 400/500 years later. I hate having to make inconsistencies between dates (it's my impediment, I know😭), so what do you recommend? Do I follow what J.K. Rowling said or do I stick to the historical dates and make some changes to the history of Hogwarts and the wizards who attended it?

Peter (Gryffindor): Courageous and brave

Lucy (Hufflepuff): Loyal and kind

Edmund (Slytherin): Sly and cunning

Pure coincidence? Maybe. But it totally makes sense!

I understand that some people possess the traits of more than one house, but having to make up names for your "house"? Just stop. "I'm a Huffledor!" Are ya? You didn't hear Professor Mcgonagall call herself a "Gryffinclaw". Just commit to a house and stop the silliness.

Edit: To the people who feel they have to remind me it's fiction, I'm painfully aware that the wizarding world is an unfortunately fictional world. But that doesn't keep people from crying when a made up character dies or from hating a fictional character because they're unlikable. My feelings on this subject are just as valid as people who feel the opposite of me. It's just an OPINION. I know a lot of Potter fans don't like people stating their opinions anymore but... don't get annoyed at me being annoyed. That'll just annoy me.

Did they just pick their favorite animal or something their name matched with? And for some reason Ravenclaw's is an eagle and not a raven? So I'm confused.

I just found this hilarious, especially the Hufflepuff one 😂

(I also don’t really know what’s considered profanity on here so I just blocked out whatever might be)

Why weren’t the hogwarts founders ghosts in the castle when they died? My theory is that they might take all the attention and all the other ghosts would be pointless
