So Ominis Gaunt bas born between 1 September 1874 and 31 August 1875...

And there's no more Gaunts alive other than Marvolo and his mentally sane kids....

That means Ominis died after 1890/1891, aged 15..and before 1925, aged 50...

That...unless:

1.- He faked his death.

Why?

Either:

a) To live in peace without his prejudiced family.

b) To marry Sebby!!!

2.- He wasn't considered a pure Gaunt and wasn't mentioned anymore.

So he wasn't mentioned by any Gaunt; so he was erased from everywhere, and he died between 1925 and 1943 (as Voldy was a good searcher, and could0ve find out about him).

One of the most common themes not just in Harry Potter, but also in all wizarding world stories is the intense dislike and antipathy felt towards Slytherin house and it's members. The fact that most of the antagonists throughout the series are from Slytherin and the fact that Slytherin is disliked by all the other houses (especially Gryffindor who it shares a rivalry with) also doesn't help either.

Who do you think are the most anti-Slytherin characters throughout the series?

In my opinion it's either Hagrid or the Weasleys.

So known parseltongues include Voldemort, Morfin Guant and Marvolo Gaunt. Now of course there's Harry but he lost his ability to speak to snakes after the bit of Voldemort's soul was killed. So the Gaunts are descendants of Salazar Slytherin who is, as far as I know, is the first recorded parseltongue. Does that mean that all parseltongues are descendants of Slytherin.

But it could also have something to do with souls which are a huge part of the Harry Potter series. After all, Harry could only speak to snakes because there was a bit of Voldemort's soul inside of him.

So what do you think?

As you may know, negative opinions about Slytherin is a common feature that is regularly expressed by multiple characters throughout the series both in all eight movies and especially in all seven books, and also in both the prequels (such as Fantastic Beasts) and the sequels (like the Cursed Child). Whilst anti-Slytherin biased is expressed by so many characters (including Harry himself), which characters do you believe had the strongest anti-Slytherin views?

How accurate is the last of the Blacks/Gaunts statement used to describe Sirius Black and Merope Gaunt respectively? Great Britain is a vast region and there could be a Black or Gaunt living in a remote area, so people think that only this one individual is the last when in really there are other(s) out there.

I’m a little confused because I thought she died due to giving birth.

But her article page states many times

Merope Riddle chose death in spite of a son who needed her

She chose to not live

not even willing to raise her wand to save her own life

So she had a choice whether to live or die?

How can that be?

What could she of done in order to live?

How could she of saved her own life?

Has it ever occurred to anyone that the reason that Merope Gaunt probably used a love potion, supposedly Amortentia, on Tom Riddle was that there may have been a history of using this method to make sure the line was "pure" when the Gaunts went from outsourcing to other pureblood families for spouses to KEEPING it in the Family?

Anyway, I just can't remember this tiny detail because I haven't watched the Crimes of Grindelwald in a long time (meaning a month). I think I remember something like this but can't be sure.

If Credence is indeed a parseltongue, that will mean either the Dumbledore family is related to the Gaunt family (direct descendent from Salazar Slytherin), or the girl Aberforth is in love with is related or a descendent from the Gaunt family.

If the gaunts had been the film version of half blood prince who would've been the right actress to play Merope Gaunt? Pick any actress you feel would've been good as Merope there must be someone who could've pulled off that gloomy cross eyed look?

**DISCLAIMER: I am not at all a writer, and so if anyone wants to take this idea and run with it, they may. I’m just reading through Half Blood Prince again and got what I believe to be pretty amazing story idea.

Tom Riddle (now Voldemort) goes to find his mother’s family and seeks out the Gaunt house. Finding Morfin, he learns of his mother’s betrayal to her family and where his father and his family live in the Muggle town nearby. He goes to kill the entire Riddle family with the intention of eliminating the Riddle line, but is unaware of his father’s second child, born of his second wife, who has long passed. This boy, the “other Riddle”, was born about 6 years after Tom, and because Tom Sr. either doesn’t remember that he has another child or, equally likely, wants so badly to forget that fact, he’s named this second son Tom Riddle as well.

This “other Riddle” has always been a bit strange, but Tom Sr. believed that to be because he was so gifted and intelligent. He ignores that he is extraordinarily lucky (even to the point of things almost impossibly working out in his favor) or that his friends all seem unusually loyal to him, especially for children so young. After the murder of his father and paternal grandparents, Tom Riddle Jr. (part 2) goes to live at his maternal grandparents’ house, where he is called upon by an unusually dressed woman who calls herself a witch and who brandishes a letter telling him his life is about to radically change.

Fast forward to the second Tom Riddle growing up in his education at Hogwarts, confused by odd looks he gets from teachers and by seeing his name on an award for special services to the school. He realizes that the man that’s rising in power outside the walls of Hogwarts is, somehow, his brother, and after doing some digging, finds out that it is Voldemort’s (as he’s more commonly known now) family on record to have murdered his. Enraged and forever changed by this news, this other Tom Riddle dedicates himself and grows to be an equally Dark wizard, but one in opposition to his half brother, seeking vengeance for the death of his family.

What if two or more people wanted to make the same item a horcrux. For example, let's say two brothers of the Slytherin/Gaunt family want to make Salazar Slytherin's locket their horcrux. Can the horcrux choose? Would they just both die? Would their souls combine? What would happen?

Theory

So if every pureblood family is related in some way, this is a bit crazy.... So if the Black family is related to the Malfoys and Prewetts, making Malfoys and Prewetts related and the Prewetts are related to the Weasleys, Making the Malfoys and Weasleys related, The Black family is related to the Gaunts and the Gaunts were related to Voldemort (in some way I forgot lmao) and the Gaunts were ancestors of Salazar Slytherin, meaning.... Ron, Draco, Voldemort, Isolt, and Sirius (Isolt Sayre was related to Gaunts) are related...

There is no evidence whatsoever that Cadmus Peverell had a child, or that he had any family outside of his two brothers. Once he had died, considering Antioch was either already dead or died soon after, Ignotus would have inherited all of his property, including the stone.

Following this, it is probable that the Gaunts descended from Ignotus and that is how they would have the stone. Furthermore, regardless of whether the Peverells or the founders of Hogwarts came first, this means that it is likely that both the Potters and the Gaunts are descended from Ignotus and if Salazar Slytherin is of Ignotus’ line then that would mean that both the Potters and Gaunts are also related to Slytherin.

The only reason people think the Gaunts are related to Cadmus Peverell is because he was the original owner of the stone, but he most likely passed that stone to Ignotus and that is where this theory ends, please discuss!

We have learned from Book Two that “Tom Marvolo Riddle” can be rearranged to form “I am Lord Voldemort”. We also know that Voldemort hated his biological father Tom Riddle Sr a lot. So why did Tom Riddle Jr give himself the name “Lord Voldemort”, which can remind himself of this father?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a rendition of a map of Ilvermorny. I’m currently drawing up my own but I wanted to know if anyone had done it before. Thanks!
