In the last couple days I've had conversations with people about popular HP characters that I personally don't like and why I don't.
These three characters are:
Dobby
Hermione Granger
Luna Lovegood
Now, I'd like to make clear to anyone I talk to on here that even if I don't like the character, I do respect that they tons of people do.
Similar situation happens for me with the following Disney characters/films they come from:
First movie of its kind ever (full-length 2D animation film), which was a HUGE ACHIEVEMENT for the entertainment industry, and I respect that greatly. It's just that the character doesn't stand out to me in any way and the film personally bores me.
Or even Eleven in Stranger Things for that matter. Though for Eleven I admit that I do deeply struggle to stay respectful sometimes because I've never disliked a character that much before...
Even though I personally don't like these characters, that doesn't mean that I don't respect how popular they are to their respective fanbases as a whole.
I know many people have looked up to Hermione Granger because of her smarts and confidence, or to Luna because of her optimism and freedom to be herself. I respect that.
Okay, there. Hope this clears up anything for those who have had conversations with me about any of those HP characters (any other ones I listed were just examples from other franchises).
I know I didn't touch on Dobby that much if at all here, but exact same thing for him: I respect the character's popularity and those who like him.
