Mandrake

So I'm back sooner than I had expected. Played a lot for the past hour I think...anyways, it says in this save file I've played for FIFTEEN HOURS.

Also, I have a decent amount of Ryder O'Connell pictures that I've taken in the game, so maybe at some point I'll share them all together in a seperate post or something.

Slytherin - Part 10:

So getting back in, I was still in the Greenhouses like last night.

I needed to acquire both a Mandrake and a Venomous Tentacula. Since I had no means to one, I went to Dogweed and Deathcap in Hogsmeade. To be able to afford one of each, I had to sell all but two things in my Inventory.

Then I went back to the Greenhouses so I could re-check how I was supposed to use what I bought for the quest that Prof. Garlick. It turned out I had to use at least one of them in combat, so I got excited thinking it was “Prince of the Night” time 💗.

So I went to dear Pitt-Upon-Ford, a town I remember going to before and liking. I did remember that I wanted a place to go as a second-home for when I didn’t want to do quests, but I don’t think I picked this place for that.

Going north with the Mandrake equipped first, I came across a giant spider and a few smaller ones. Since I was not near Hogwarts, I did not wear the school robes and let Ryder go around as his secret persona: Prince of the Night.

At first I thought I could be safe attacking the spiders because I was on a bridge/ledge up above it. But of course I slipped down, and started fighting for real. When it was just the giant spider left, I lowkey loved watching it squirm around because of the Mandrake I released on it. I felt very powerful as I sent spell after spell. I only lost half my health the whole time.

I thought it was done, but oh how wrong I was…

It turned out I was in a corner that I couldn’t get out of. So burning the giant spider web with Confringo, I came across a bunch of spiders. I fought my way through, without losing any health. Then I headed back to Pitt-Upon-Ford. Didn’t know if I should use the Venomous Tentacula for combat or something else, since the quest didn’t specify.

This was when I found a place that I really liked, and thought I could kinda make my own. It's a rundown tower next to Pitt-Upon-Ford up on a hill. I got there by flying around on my broom because I saw balloons above the lake there and wanted to pop them before getting distracted by the tower.

I got in, losing a bit of my health because I had jumped from a broken ceiling area. It was nighttime, so at first I didn’t recognize it. But once inside I realized it was the tower I went to for Rackham’s First Trial. Ah well, I like this tower. IT IS MINE NOW!

After going around the tower for a while, I decided to fly some more for a bit before returning to Hogwarts…specifcally the Greenhouses. Before that though, I obviously put the Hogwarts Robes back on.

After wandering around for a bit, I decided I would just place my Venomous Tentacula at the front door of the Greenhouses. I thought it may be funny if someone walked in and it attacked them, but it was night and it disappeared before day could come.

Now it was time for Herbology class for whatever reason, during the day of course. Then after it was over, Wingardium Leviosa time. I found it very weird though that Prof. Garlick was going on about how it was such an advanced charm, and I was just thinking of: ISN’T THIS A 1ST YEAR’S SPELL 🤨?

He couldn't have drunk the mandrake potion because he's a ghost and I can't think of any other way.

I am rereading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and in the first herbology class Hermione states that Mandrakes can cure curses. I don't know if my questioning is even correct because I haven't finished Hogwarts Legacy, but why don't they give Sebastian's sister a mandrake formula for her curse. Now like I said I haven't finished Hogwarts Legacy yet so they might have cured her or said that that solution won't work because that's not exactly how mandrakes work but please, anyone who knows the answer to that, please enlighten me.

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, multiple students and a cat get petrified by seeing the reflection of the basilisk; the cure to be unpetrified (that isn't a word, is it? Oh well) is a mandrake. So everyone had to wait until the end of the school year when Professor Sprout's mandrakes would be full-grown and the petrified people could be unfrozen.

The end of the school year. They were frozen for months. And these students were Muggle-borns-their parents could have very easily (and understandably) decided not to send them back next year! Not to mention they missed out on months of academic and social development!

Were there seriously no other mandrakes anywhere in the wizarding world they could have used instead? Surely no expense should be spared for the wellbeing of Hogwarts students, especially when coming at the possible expense of their magical education?

Griffndor:

Wow, a live Mandrake! I can't wait to see what it does!!! *pulls out of pot* Woah! Check this out! This is awesome I can't wait to show everyone!

Hufflepuff:

Professor Sprout told me to be careful... *lifts out Mandrake* Look at the little Darling! Oh but your probably so misunderstood. Well, I think you're amazing! *hugs the Mandrake*.

Ravenclaw:

How, a rare mandrake! I hear it can be fatal if your not wearing your earmuffs. Ohh this is a baby one! I've been reading up on those, apparently their screams aren't fatal. *examines it then puts it back in the pot*.

Slytherin:

What is this? EWW THIS IS REPULSIVE!!! DISGUSTING! *looks both ways* *pokes it's mouth* Ahh! It's got me! Ugh, UGH!! My father will here about this!!!
