Whomping Willow

I’ve got a question about the Whomping Willow and the Shrieking Shack in the Prisoner of Azkaban: Why does the tunnel go down under ground and enter the Shrieking Shack, shouldn’t the Shrieking Shack be underground?

Although I know that the Shrieking Shack isn’t underground I’m still very, very confused. Please answer and have a great day! :)

What prank does the Marauder's (Mainly Sirius Black) pull on Snape that almost cost his life? How/what saved/helped him and resolved the prank? (Basically give me a summary of what happened with the prank...!)

ANSWER: Sirius Black told Snape to check the Whomping WIlliow, and he did because he knew the Marauder's ways. What he didn't know was that Remus down there in his werewolf form. James quickly pulled Snape out before damage was done, but Snape ended up seeing Remus in his wolf form and figured out his 'Furry Little Problem' secret!

After all, we’d all beat up anyone who are trying to hurt Remus John Lupin, the best Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher Hogwarts ever had.

So I was just watching a video about original HP series references in Crimes of Grindelwald and they mention that Newt and Leta have a scene where the Whomping_Willow features.

As mentioned by Remus Lupin, that tree was suposedly planted in the year he arrived to hide and protect the tunnel to his shack.. so what is it doing back with Newt and Leta?

It only seems to make sense if it was a different tree in the flashback- or if it was the same tree- that it was Re Planted in 1971 but had existed elsewhere on Hogwarts grounds..
